Everybody, including Google, knows lawyers have something to say about everything.

But Google is making it easier for them to comment on Office files, PDFs, and images. In Google Drive, users can now comment in the preview pane without having to use other tools or convert files.

Reviewers say it’s not quite the same as G Suite or Office 365, but it works. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, it’s free.

Drive Update

For file sharing, Google Drive has made its way into many law firms. Legal Geek says it has features that work well for lawyers, such as:

  • Best with Google products
  • A “very powerful” Search function
  • Works with many file types, especially PDF and Word
  • Google security, which is certainly better than Yahoo

TechCrunch says the Google Drive update will make it easier for groups to use. It is another Google initiative, along with the Drive plugin for Outlook.

Oldies but Goodies

Google has made business tools that lawyers have used for years. But like using brain power, few use all of the available tools.

DirectLaw says “lawyers can create their own Google-Powered Law Office.” Here are some oldies among the goodies:

  • Docs
  • Maps
  • Gmail
  • Calendar

And if you are on the World Wide Web, you may use Google Translate to say just about anything in almost 90 different languages. Because if you are a lawyer, you probably have something to say about everything.
