What’s the top online directory for personal injury lawyers? In terms of Google’s traffic rankings, FindLaw comes out on top. That’s according to the findings of Dan Weeks at Lawyer Marketing Score, who gathered the Google traffic from five major cities.
Dan Weeks has been tracking professional directories as part of his business, Lawyermarketingscore.com for sometime. Based on a selected batch of the 20 highest value keywords as measured in five major metropolitan areas, FindLaw came out on top by a sizable measure as the top lawyer directory for personal injury. The metro areas included were: LA, NYC, Chicago, Houston, Dallas.
Yelp Ranks High Overall, but Gets No Love From Texas
In Texas, Yelp has virtually no presence as a lawyer directory service for personal injury attorneys. Practically zero. It would be interesting to see what Yelp’s overall use by Texan consumers is in other sectors. By contrast, FindLaw’s Houston and Dallas VOT is about equal to Yelp’s VOT in LA.
Second, the fact that Yelp scored in the top five of lawyer directories at all is striking. Every single other name that made it to the top five is a well known legal services company and fights to maintain online visibility. Yelp’s LA and NYC presence can’t be ignored.
Do people in LA really look for lawyers on the same site where you can rate Chinese takeout? Apparently so. Unlike Yelp, professional marketing services like FindLaw offer a wide range of services. Like Yelp, it’s easy to sign up for a directory listing at FindLaw.
