If you missed the Super Bowl, you didn’t miss much. It was the lowest scoring Super Bowl ever.
And if you missed the Golden Globes, it doesn’t matter as much. That’s because you probably heard about the “Fiji Water Girl.” She got more attention than a half-time show.
She’s not going away anytime soon, either. She’s suing the company that made her famous.
Instafamous
Kelleth Cuthbert, a Canadian model, stole the show on the red carpet. She appeared in the background as hundreds of celebrities were photographed.
She instantly became Instagram famous, but not everybody was a fan. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis said she deliberately moved away from the “blatant promotions.”
Fiji Water said it didn’t hire Cuthbert to photobomb the awards show. Cuthbert said she didn’t authorize Fiji Water to use her likeness in promotions the day after.
Lawsuit Bomb
In a lawsuit, the model says the water company made cardboard cutouts of her without permission. In a promotion with John Legend leaving a grocery store, for example, the cardboard Cuthbert is in the background with her signature Golden Globe look.
Fiji Water says the lawsuit is “frivolous,” and accuses Cuthbert of mugging and breaching their agreement. The model says there was no agreement and she just gave the photographers her own look.
“No matter where you move, you’re in somebody’s shot,” she told reporters. “I think from so many years of modelling, when I hear a shutter, I just kind of give a face.”
